TELESISMFG CAPABILITIES: INTEGRATED PRODUCTS

Triggers & Alerts

TelesisMFG is constantly being refined to meet your needs. With TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts function you will be able to increase your productivity and improve your cash flow by applying the latest technologies to your problem areas.

Using TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts capabilities saves you time and effort by sending the necessary information to the appropriate people at the right time. Errors and miscommunication are minimized.

Highlights

  • All trigger points are defined by the user.
  • Trigger points are defined by changes in the main TelesisMFG database; no other data is required.
  • All alert responses are defined by the user.
  • Alerting actions are part of TelesisMFG and readily available.
  • Two basic functions: comparison of existing data, or consideration of elapsed time.
  • Alerts can insert specific data to make each response unique to the situation.
  • Alert responses can be setup to include special programs; increases response possibilities.

What are Triggers and Alerts
In the manufacturing or process control arena, data being returned from a work cell is continuously surveyed to assure compliance with previously established standards. Predetermined trigger points are set for the process, and when a trigger point is attained, an "exception" is noted. The monitoring device concludes that an alarm condition exists and starts a process to analyze and respond to the condition.

The system supervisor checks a decision table to establish its response and then takes the appropriate action. The alert response may be only a notation in a log file, or it may be flashing a signal light, sounding a horn, or some other predetermined action.

TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts function allows you to apply the same principles to your business activities. The triggers and alerts concept is that you define a condition for the system to monitor within TelesisMFG, and when that predetermined event occurs, the system "triggers" a reaction. The reaction, or "alert," could be automatically printing a report, sending an e-mail, or calling a voice mail box and leaving a message.

TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts function is described as "user definable and user tailorable." In layman's terms, that means that you have the choice of deciding which data points should be monitored, when the function should be triggered, and who should be alerted.

What do I do With Them?
The Triggers and Alerts function is really limited only by your imagination. TelesisMFG is supported by a database - an accumulation of all the business information that your staff entered into the computer during implementation. Triggers and Alerts can be present to monitor any changes in your database and advise you when those changes take place, or when they exceed a certain predetermined limit. Or, if an event is required to take place within a certain time period, you will be notified when the time has expired.

Some Examples
These examples will give you an idea of what you can do with TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts:

  • When critically needed parts are delivered, TelesisMFG could automatically notify the production manager by calling his beeper; and then follow up by sending an e-mail detailing the event.
  • TelesisMFG could automatically advise the credit department that an order has been placed by a customer who is late making payments on previous orders.
  • If an important job is delayed, Triggers and Alerts could notify production control, or sales, or customer service, or whomever you think needs to know.
  • If unauthorized changes are being made to the database, the system could notify management, shut-down the offending terminal, send an alarm, or take other action you decide is appropriate.
  • As purchase orders are received, the system could send an e-mail to Purchasing notifying them of the receipt.
  • If an established order has its original quantity changed, the system could notify sales, or Production, or Customer Service, or anyone else you decide needs to know.
  • Your company may have a policy that all purchase requisitions must be approved within three days; after the third day the system could send a reminder that the "req" still has to be approved. And, after perhaps, seven days, the plant manager could be notified that the "req" is still outstanding.

The possibilities are nearly endless. Any information stored in your database is available as a monitoring and trigger point for TelesisMFG's Triggers and Alerts function. It's your choice.
